Pookies Makes a Debut in Bath

Many of us were sad to see the closure of Pookies Little Britches over a couple of years ago in Painted Post.  The owner of the plaza had allowed the roof to decay–and left no alternative but for them to move out.  Surprisingly, this move was to the Arnot Mall in Horseheads, somewhere not particularly convenient for Bath residents.

The old Pookies consignment shop was a wonder.  Not only the line of nicer clothes on the offering but also a number of independent vendors and services to be found.  A few of our local ministries received clothing for distribution in their street-front missions–including the old Reverb storefront on Liberty Street.  The availability of used good stuff dipped further with the closure of the Salvation Army thrift store in the old Acme plaza.

Pookies has a long history in our local region, opening the first store on Market Street in Corning during the early 2000s.  But the favorable winds continue for us here in Bath, as founder and owner Val Rook has opened a new location in the Tops Plaza here in Bath.  Be sure to check them out–and for more info about Val and the stores, see the article below!
